MC Easy Microfinance is a licensed microfinance institution with operations in Yangon, Mon, Kayin, Naypyitaw, Magway, Sagaing and Ayeyawady  which will soon expand to other States in Myanmar. In order to strengthen our pro-active team in Yangon, we are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic CFO.

Job responsibilities

The CFO is directly responsible for managing all finance and accounting of Easy Microfinance, and supervises all of its finance staff.  S/he will ensure that the finance department will support Easy Microfinance in pursuing its objectives with a minimum of risk and a maximum of efficiency.  As a member of the Management Team, s/he shares responsibility for the overall performance of the institution, and participates in making decisions on material issues.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Supervising, co-hiring, training and developing of all Finance staff
  • Overseeing and controlling the activities of the Finance staff
  • Ensuring full tax and regulatory compliance of the company
  • Treasury and liquidity management
  • Financial analyses of performance and development of appropriate tools with the aim of reducing risk and improve efficiencies
  • Creating and/or improving policies and procedures for Finance activities
  • Strategic business planning and budgeting
  • Monitoring and enforcing budget compliance
  • Timely and accurately reporting the financial performance of the Company
  • Internal and external reporting
  • Participation in management meetings of the Company contributing to strategic choices and important decisions of the company and ensuring good interdepartmental coordination
  • Liaise with external auditors and the regulator during their missions

Requirements

  • CPA or Accounting degree from a recognized university in Accountancy or Business Administration; and/or MBA from recognized university
  • At least five years relevant work experience, including two years in a finance manager or chief accountant or controller position or other acceptable supervisory capacity
  • Experience in micro-finance and/or commercial banking, or product development, is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of the Myanmar tax environment
  • Strong numeric and analytical abilities
  • Accurate and detail oriented person
  • Stress resistant and able to respect deadlines
  • Good management and people skills
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office (excel and word)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Burmese would be an advantage

Job responsibilities

The Head of Internal Audit heads the Internal Audit Department. He is a member of senior management of Easy Microfinance and is therefore expected to update the Audit policies when necessary and enforce the company’s compliance to policies and procedures. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage the team of internal auditors
  • Organize a yearly risk assessment exercise
  • Design the yearly audit plan and ensure its proper implementation
  • Conduct internal audit missions in line with the audit plan; this will be substantial when the internal audit team is still small and gradually decrease as the number of branches increases and the internal audit team gets bigger
  • Conduct the internal audit for the departments with sensitive information (for example HR and Finance)
  • Conduct special audit missions as required by the Managing Director or the Audit Committee
  • Review internal auditor’s draft mission audit reports before restitution; ensure that they are timely, well structured, have relevant audit findings and have constructive recommendations
  • Organize and participate in restitution meetings with the auditees and Management to discuss the findings and the responses
  • Regular follow-up and quarterly reporting on outstanding findings and the status of the implementation of the recommendations
  • Prepare quarterly audit reporting and presentation for the Audit Committee
  • Organize and attend the quarterly Audit Committee meetings and ensure they are properly minuted

Requirements

  • University graduate holding accounting certificates or audit certificate
  • 4-year experience minimum in internal and/or external auditing
  • At least 1 year experience managing/leading a team
  • Rigorous, methodological, critical, analytical and accurate
  • Independent, inquisitive and perseverant
  • Integrity and professional ethics
  • Able to write a structured report on audit findings with clear and constructive recommendations
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Able to stand his/her ground and get timely responses from the audited entities while at the same time ensuring a smooth collaboration and communication
  • Able and willing to travel around Myanmar.
  • Fluency in Burmese, good oral and written knowledge of English.
